Christian Grow Up

Leave a comment

3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

We are commanded to grow in grace and in knowing Jesus!  Now God is very reasonable.  He doesn’t command us to do something that is out of our control.  For example, he never commands us to grow physically.

Growth in grace, however, is different than physical growth.  We control our growth in grace by either obeying God and His will or resisting Him.

Grace is a gift, but God tells us the requirements of the gift.  “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

“Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God.”  Growth in God’s grace requires us to humble ourselves.  It requires us to actively seek God’s kingdom (His rule over us) and His righteousness (His right living).

Grow in knowing Jesus.  Get to know Him better every day.  Read His word.  Listen to Him.   Obey Him.  Turn away from every sin — every thought you think and everything you do against His will.

It is time for us who call ourselves Christians to grow up and be the people God has called us to be.

Why when people and Churchs pray they do it like a shopping list. The Bible tell us how to pray.“Teach us how to pray,” the disciples said to Jesus. (Luke 11, 1)  .He answered by teaching them the prayer we call the Our Father or The Lord’s Prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer is a basic Christian prayer. As a model of prayer, every Christian learns it by heart.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
as we forgive them that sin against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
  1. Having opened, the prayer begins by hallowing the name of God
  2. The request for God’s kingdom to come for is word to go all around the world
  3. The prayer follows with an expression of hope for God’s will to be done.
  4. Give us this day our daily bread. is us thanking the Lord for what he has done and asking for help for us and poeple we know
  5. Repent of our Sin and that we will forgive others
  6. keep us from sinning
  7.  to keep them from the evil one.
  8. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. every thing is Gods

why can we not pray like that at Church or Bible group
