Last Sunday I shared with my congregation from Acts 2:1-13.  If you’d like, you can listen to that message here.    The appearance of the Holy Spirit in such a confronting and tangible way is reasonably well-known, certainly amongst Christian circles … even amongst those who tend to be apathetic or even dismissive towards the Holy Spirit’s presence and power in the world today.

In preparing the message, I noted that the events occurred during the feast of Pentecost … a time of heightened focus on thankfulness, obedience to the law,

join the church

A young couple wanted to join the church, the priest told them, ‘We have a special requirement for new member couples. You must abstain from sex for one whole month.’ The couple agreed, but after two-and-a-half weeks returned to the Church. When the priest ushered them into his office, the wife was crying and the husband was obviously very depressed. ‘You are back so soon…Is there a problem?’ the priest inquired. ‘We are terribly ashamed to admit that we did not manage to abstain from sex for the required month.’ The young man replied sadly. The priest asked him what happened. ‘Well, the first week was difficult… However, we managed to abstain through sheer willpower. The second week was terrible, but with the use of prayer, we managed to abstain. However, the third week was unbearable. We tried cold showers, Prayer, reading from the Bible….anything to keep our minds off Carnal Thoughts. One afternoon my wife reached for a can of paint and dropped it. When she bent over to pick it up, I was overcome with lust and I just had my way with her right then and there. It was lustful, loud, passionate sex. It lasted for over an hour and when we were done we were both drenched in sweat,’ admitted the man, shamefacedly. The priest lowered his head and said sternly, ‘You understand this means you will not be welcome in our church.’ ‘We know.’ said the young man, hanging his head, ‘We’re not welcome at Bunnings, either.’

new church

I been going to my new church now for 14 weeks and loving it. Sermons are great and in a happy church family. It has Solid Bible Teaching, an in-depth worship experience that brings a believer into the presence of God and the Church band is small but good.  Today I started to find out how to come members.

Jesus all about Life

I’m really disappointed by the Jesus all about Life campaign so far. With all
the time effort & money that has been invested to tell people about Jesus, the only message I’ve heard really so far amounts to “Thank you Jesus for the pixies!” Where’s the Jesus of Mother Theresa living with sick people in the slums of India? Where is the Jesus of Martin Luther King getting equal rights for the coloured people in America? Where is the Jesus who can help people make their marriages work, teach people how to love & take away their tears, where is the Jesus who looks at the unfairness of life in Australia and stirs people to do something about it. Jesus is about getting down with the dirty, gritty ugliness of life and making it right. Jesus is about life, but spending thousands of dollars to say thank you for the sunburn just trivialises Him and highlights all that is wrong with the Christian church today. Jesus all about life, great slogan, terrible campaign. Just plain embarrassing.

state control religion

Religious leaders in Rwanda are protesting a bill which, if adopted, will make it more difficult to start new places of worship. The bill will require those who want to start up churches and mosques to have at least a graduate degree.

The critics of the bill point out that most religions were started by men of humble beginnings and that academic achievement is not a priority when one has a religious calling.

However, the bill’s supporters argue it would stop the unprecedented growth of new churches.

The free democratic societies that we in the west cherish are based on 4 core freedoms.

1) Freedom of Speech and Assembly.
2) Freedom of Worship.
3) Equal status before the Law.
4) Equality of representation

Medicare number

Had some fun in February this year by ask our church office lady why do we ask medicare details in the kids groups the 1st reply I got was “It a prerequisite from the Professional Standards Board, and we don’t want to have to wait to seek Medical care to get the number if something drastic happens.”

Whick is WRONG it is not  necessary to have a Medicare details to get Medical care in hospital. when i sent that I then got back with “But it would help the hospital I’m sure to have previous information at hand. It would be a shame for your kids to miss out due to such a trivial issue if they made it a compulsory thing to have before you enter.”

Whick is WRONG hospital use MBN numbers not Medicare number. now i been told it is compulsory by SAD (Sydney Anglican Diocese).

my son plays football on weekend they do not need Medicare number. the pre school that my girl go to they do not need my Medicare number. the school that my boy go to do not need the Medicare number.  the place my kids do swimming they do not need my Medicare number. why then do the church need it.

At the church that I go to has lifeworks  on and there giving out beer and wine. 40 percent of family problems related to alcohol abuse . and we are making sure the the problem come with them to church. yes there is a time for alcohol but not at church

people who do to much

I go to a lot of Churches over the years and in all of them there is a few people that do everthing. they allways think they are the only one who will do it ar the only one who will do it right. There like Martha in the book of  Luke

39And she had a sister called Mary, who  sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is necessary.  Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.

Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke10:39-42

Some times people hide from the Lord by saying there to busy. We all need to look at the jobs we do and put God 1st before works.

new start

It’s aways sad when someone goes from the church and when it the minster it a bit harder. It’s now time for the Church to look at the new start it will have a new minster can be exciting and bring new life into the place change thing for the good.

The old minster ( Richard Goscombe ) was good.  God worked in him to start groups  up and help the church grow but now change is in the air time for a new start.
